UK and Others Get Discounted Music Unlimited

Many of us have probably seen the option to try out Music Unlimited on our Sony devices, but very few people have used it or even know what it does. In case you are curious, the service is more or less this particular company's way of dealing with competition from music services like Spotify and Pandora. As advertised in the source PlayStation Blog post, Unlimited allows subscribers to access "millions and millions" of tracks on a streaming basis. Like many of these other competing offerings you can build playlists and sync to your computer's own library, but the real incentive here is to have the ability to legally listen to the things you don't currently own.

So what's the catch here? The plans are really kind of expensive. At a yearly $60 rate, few people are going to want to pony up the cash when they can use any number of services completely free. Even YouTube works as a pretty good alternative for any computer and it won't cost you a dime. Sony seems to know this though, and that's why they're offering a pretty sizable discount to PSN subscribers in many territories. Should you be a Plus member in AE, Australia, UK, Ireland, or New Zealand you can get one year's worth of membership for just £11.99/€11.99/107.99 Kr/AU$13.99! If you're not on Plus, the discounts aren't quite as sweet, but they're still good enough. For that, the prices are £59.99/€59.99/539.99 Kr/AU$71.99 for a one year subscription.

I'm smart enough to know that there are tons of ways to get free tunes out there, but if you're a real Sony fan, this promotion could tickle your fancy!
