Sticking to the party line, Sony's SVP of brand marketing, Tim Longworth, stays upbeat regarding the Vita's launch, dodges a few questions, but lets loose a few cool bits.
By now, just about everyone that really wants and can afford a Vita has one and now the guys at Sony are coming out in full force in support of the device here in the US. They're pretty uniform in their responses to questions, but sometimes new little details come out.
In this new interview, Tim Longworth pretty much ignores a question about the reason why the UMD program isn't coming to the US and merely says there are no plans to bring it to that market. Way to toe the party line.
On the other hand, he says there are over 100 games in development for the Vita, including Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, FIFA 12, and BioShock. He also doesn't rule out the possiblity of an e-reader app for the Vita, which is a pretty cool idea. Even better, he also says they're considering bringing PSOne games to the Vita.
He also says they're not worried about the perception about the Vita's sales, stating that they're looking at the longview and will be looking at things in terms of 12, 18, and 24 months out. I always thought people's concerns about the Vita's sales were a tad overblown anyway.
