Sony Worldwide Pres Talks Vita Launch, Calls Early Demon's Souls Build 'Crap'

Shuhei Yoshida manages to remain cautiously optimistic in the face of the PS Vita's flagging sales, but manages to sneak in a dig at Demon's Souls in the process.

In an interview with Game Informer, Shuhei Yoshida, the president of Sony Worldwide studios, managed to keep an upbeat tone when questioned about the Vita's sales in Japan. In short, he said that the Japanese gaming market is a wholly different animal than everywhere else and that they dropped the ball in including Uncharted: Golden Abyss as a launch title there, as it is not a popular franchise in Japan despite being a hit everywhere else.

He also recognizes that Sony is competing with itself in not only still selling the PSP, but also actively advertising it as well. The 3DS isn't helping matters either.

In non-Vita territory, Yoshida also just off-hand called an early build of Demon's Souls "crap." Which is why he said that Sony didn't pick it up for publishing in the West. He does, however, say that it has come a long way since that build.

Overall, nothing all that shocking. Except for that "crap" remark. WTF?
