PS Vita: The Future of Handheld Gaming or a Bump in the Road?

Submitted by OS_Gamer; January 06, 2012

Will the PS Vita represent the future of handhelds or will it simply be another bump in the road as we look towards the next handheld?

With the sales of the PS Vita continuing to drop in its third week after being released in Japan, people are starting to wonder what the heck is going on. Every game site you go to has someone speculating on what it all means for the future and how it all came to pass. People say that not enough of the higher-end Vitas were available so people are waiting for them before they buy, others say that people are still content with their PSPs, the memory card issues, Nintendo releasing popular titles at the same time as the Vita release...the list goes on and on.

The Vita hasn't launched anywhere but Asia yet, so it's still a bit early to be sounding its death knell. It has a great launch title in Uncharted: Golden Abyss and with games like Resistance: Burning Skies coming soon I think it has a chance of succeeding once it's given a fair shake.

There have already been price drops, which may be just what the doctor ordered to turn things around after the Vita's poor performance in the first three weeks.

What do you guys think?

too soon to tell, anyway, if everything goes down, sony will still be able leak information, so developers can sign homebrew, everyone will buy, than release a kick *ss update and it´s done.
