PS Vita Firmware 1.80 Goes Live Tomorrow: What To Expect

The day is finally here. The day when Sony releases a new firmware for a console of theirs. It's a highly anticipated one as its the one that's going to bring PSOne Classics support to the Vita.

August 28th is the date that Sony has put aside to add in long awaited PSOne Classics support, among other things, after months of waiting. Besides this, the 1.80 firmware update will be bringing in tweaks to make the user experience much more enjoyable. They have put together a video detailing it all but to save you a minute or two, here they are listed below:

• You can scroll through the menu using the directional pad.
• In the Web browser:
  
  • Search bar added on top, next to address bar.
  • Jump to Top button added
  • You can now scroll through webpages using the rear touchpad.
• Playback speeds added to video player. A user can change between 1.0x and 1.5x speed.
• In the Maps application:
  • Search for Locations/Directions settings are now accessible on the Maps screen itself.
  • You can drop a flag anywhere on the map. (Cue: Apple Lawsuit)
• New Cross Controller App included for Remote Play to use with PS3.
• Playlists can now be downloaded to your Vita from a PS3 or PC.
• Notifications are much wider and their display can be disabled.

That's all included in the 1.80 firmware update set to be released tomorrow. It's a big one and it looks like it well worth the wait. If you're wondering what PSOne Classics will be rolled out first, take a look:
