If you have a PS Vita, you've probably been launching a whole mess of games and applications through the newly released VHBL for PS Vita firmware 1.80. However, ever since the loader's launch, there has been one application that all users have been clamouring for: Snes9xTYL. Thanks to an updated version of the emulator, that day has finally come. TYL Super Mario World on Vita? Yup it's possible!
While we have had SNES emulation in general on Sony's latest handheld for quite some time now through an adapted UO Snes9x, there are plenty of users out there that swear by TYL with good reason. With its increased performance (in my opinion) and well-endowed feature set, it has been the staple of the PSP homebrew community ever since its release. The fact of the matter is, a lot of people like using software from the names they trust, and the TYL series of SNES emulators has earned that kind of loyalty from a lot of us. Thanks to just a small modification, now PS Vita can join the club too!
It appears the only main problem that was stopping the emulator from running in the first place was caused by a sound processing error in the Mario-related intro for the software. Thanks to a coder named Thorwak, we now have a fixed version of the emulator that seems to run just fine without the intro there. While sources may or may not be coming soon for the code, I can at the very least point you to a place to download the recompiled version. Enjoy TYL on the Vita!
