Since December 17th, Sony says that they've sold 1.2 million Vitas, disappointing haters everywhere.
Right out of the gate, many were claiming that the Vita would be an utter failure based on some initial sluggish sales in Japan. There were extenuating circumstances (such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss, not a popular franchise in Japan, being a launch title), which Sony kept informing us, but people were still leery.
As of right now, it looks like the Vita will be OK.
Andrew House, CEO of SCE Inc., said that the market has shown that there is "a demand for a mobile device capable of providing a revolutionary combination of rich gaming and social connectivity within a real-world context." Sounds fancy, but more importantly House said that Sony is "working closely with third-party developers and publishers" to make sure we get the coolest stuff. He also says that in 2012, the Vita will have something for everyone.
He also announced that over 2 million Vita games have sold, both in retail and via download.
Were you or are you a Vita skeptic? Has your skepticism abated somewhat by this news?

for its fist month thats a good amount, lets see how everything is in a year or so, I beleive the vita will dominate, the ds and 3ds are aimed at kids, the psp was aimed at teens and young adults, but from what I see the vita is aimed at everyone just like the good ol ps2 was

I have been following the Vita since the rumors were floating around. I love my Vita to death, and i look foward to the many years we will have together. Let's hope we get a Monster Hunter game soon!

My question is, are these Vita sales actual cunsumer purchases or purchases for retail stores? Sony has always liked to mess around with words to make them look good.
I wonder if, like Apple, Sony will have Verizon PS Vitas for people who don't like AT&T or AT&T isn't available where they are. There are some parts of where I live where AT&T is very patchy or simply doesn't work.

I am not surprised the Vita has already broken 1 million sales, its a great console! I had mine preordered and apon Australian release bought it straight away, the Vita is the 1st gaming console i have ever bought when it first released, my old PS3, Xbox360 and our Wii we all got well into their lifecycle, but since i loved the PSP so damned much, i had always planned to get the Vita on launch!
The Vita will make much more sales in the coming months!
