PS Vita Firmware v1.69 Released - It Only Does Nothing

Submitted by Demonchild; June 12, 2012

Sony must be back from E3, now that a new firmware is available for the Vita. Like the title says and like Apple, it only does nothing. It was probably pushed to show that the guys over in that department are still alive. Of course, that's what they want you to believe. Check out the real reason as to why v1.69 was released.

Going past the empty changelog, it was found that the firmware does in fact patch the exploit found in Super Collapse 3. This takes care of the VHBL release by patching it firmware side. Not to worry though, Wololo blogged a few days ago about another exploit for a new game, that VHBL is already ported to. However, a release to be determined at this point.

This firmware update is completely optional so everyone should be fine at this point. However, Sony can change this into a mandatory update at any time. As always, make sure you stay away from updating if you are using VHBL with the SC3 exploit.

its the typical sony tradition again. At least its not mandatory to use it for online, THEN that would be a problem.

letting everyone know maybe I'm not the only one.

When I updated my Vita to 1.69 the browser, and anything else with the keyboard function the keyboard dissappeared

Now thinking I could fix this I went into the safe mode reinstalled the system update via PS3.

Then did rebuild database, then re-did safe mode and did restore PS Vita

It goes through the intitial setup after you select the time it goes into a "please wait loop"

and it stays stuck like that no change.

Not only does the 1.69 update do nothing but it Also Bricks the console
