Sony is slowly but surely progressing with providing one of the things that a lot of gamers have been asking for their beloved PS Vita consoles. That would be support for PSOne games. After accidentally showing off a PS1 game in the Vita Store and showcasing a few titles at E3 last month, there's the question that everyone is asking. When will we finally get the next firmware update?
Sony mentioned that the long awaited and highly anticipated feature will be added in the firmware 1.80 update for the PS Vita. What they haven't mentioned up to this point, is the expected release date for the new firmware. All that's known is that it's set to release sometime during the summer. On top of that, the allotment of PSOne Classics that will be made available on the PS Vita will be released in multiple stages and not all at the same time.
Any of you guys out there eager for this firmware update so you can play your favorite PSOne games? If you are, what PSOne games are you looking to pick up? Do you think that this might be a sign of Sony finally listening up and hearing what the people who support their products are asking for?

i hate how sony takes forever to do anything that makes their systems better like firmware updates for psone games but will roll out a firmware update in days or hours to combat hacking and homebrew

Hopefully this FW pulls through soon.

It's not so much what games do I want to get as being able to play the ones I already have. (Mostly FFVI-IX, Xenogears, Rockman 2 and a few others.

I hope they implement some sort of ad-hoc multiplayer with the PSX games. They could totally improve upon what AhMan did with irshell, seeing as they have a full featured SDK.

The number one game i am totally dying to be able to play while on the bus and laying in bed is Resident Evil: Director's Cut. I owned that on PS back in the day when it first released and it was so damn creepy, i will never forget it! To be able to play that again will be AWESOME!!!! Heck even Resident Evil 2 and 3 will be great! Also the original Tomb Raider, and Crash Bandicoot 1 and 2.
Please Sony rush this damn new firmware out, i cant wait any longer to play some Res Evil on the go!

no rush to update, as i have the SC3 VHBL, but i will likely update the first time SONY MAKES me. i hope it comes witha browser that supports FLASH, real internet would be nice.funny how the VITA brings us to official SONY pages we cant view. I, myself not very good at coding, got the SDK can harly figure it out, no time to research, but i AM looking forward to some USER made stuff, ideas like ALARMCLOCK or SHOUTCAST player, shouldnt be that hard as they were implemented in PSP firmware, well shoutcast anyway. alarmclock was a user made program

Finally! I can't wait to play Crash Bandicoot and Spyro on the Vita

sony is trying there hardest to make the firmware as best as possible but the vita firmware does not naturally support the psp format that is why their is a psp emulator and any of the firmware updates are not manditor if they only patch a hack. So let sony do there thing and let them update the vita at there own speed because i would rather have a solid ps1 compatible firmware later than a unstable firmware now.

I was hoping for PSP games. That way I can ditch the old PSP and get it all in one on the Vita. :)
