Graphical Processing Power

Before I begin this battle, let me first say that the Wii U's specs are still very much in debate at this very moment, so some of the things I say here (especially with regards to CPU and GPU) may indeed be slightly inaccurate. Regardless, I imagine I'll still get a lot of you angry commenters here to remind me of that. Anyway, let's first  talk about the basic GPU specs of the Wii U. What I can tell you is that this code name latte chip does indeed operate at about 550 MHz which puts it right on par with what you're getting in terms of speed from consoles like the Xbox 360. That certainly explains some of the reason why we're seeing similar graphics performance here. I  did my best to  find out a memory count, but alas I could not find one.

We know quite a bit more however about what's under the hood of the Vita. The graphics card here is called the SGX543MP4+ and it has about 512MB RAM plus an additional 128MB VRAM. Overall  clock speed maxes out quite close at 400MHz, but in terms of raw power it does fall slightly short of what the Wii U can do. Obviously sometimes making comparisons like these tend to be about the logical design of the chip rather than raw power, but in this case the newer home console seems to have an edge from what I can see. Regardless, this is a formidable showing for a handheld device, and it manages to perform quite amazingly for its size.

Winner: Wii  U

Let's take a look and compare the CPU Speed for the Wii U and PS Vita.  Which do you think is the best?

I do lots of these head to heads so maybe I'll do it next time.

Also it's not entirely stupid. Sony claims that the Vita is home console gaming on the go so why not judge it on even footing? In some specs its better than a home console.

something I don't agree with here is that you only compared clock speed, but you didn't compared stuff like the amount of cores, gflops, etc
I understand we don't know much about the wii u, which is why you should have simply said that none of them won due to lack of info, instead of saying the wii u won due to a wild guess

I suppose throwing in a no contest there is good enough, but you would have to do that for both the CPU and GPU which would pretty much negate half the article to nothing. The reason you don't know that stuff about the Wii is because generally nobody except Nintendo does right now. I had to work with what I got. Which I did say plenty of times.

A GPUs processing power isn't entirely decided by clock speed. number of cores and architecture are just as important, so you would definitely need more information to do ANY comparison between the two GPUs.

Definitely right. That's why in one of the later pages I said I'll probably do this again a year from now. We just don't know enough about the Wii u to get the entire picture.

Nintendo isn't a company that makes powerful systems nor quality. All outdated and here we have proof. A home console that's a little bit stronger than a handheld?

Really?
c'mon now.

It would be easier to compare the PSV with 3DS-XL & PS3 with Wii U. You know handhelds & consoles. If thats the case will all know who the clear winner is SONY. However we can't deny that the PSV is lacking in the games department compared to the 3ds. When i look at my 3ds and play tales of the abyss and then switch to persona 4 golden on my PSV some of that disappointment goes away. The netflix app looks and runs great on the PSV where in the 3ds not as much. As far as the PS3 & Wii U goes we all know that Nintendo could have had use better hardware and those ported games like COD Black Ops 2 & darksider 2 don't look very good at this moment. Therefore they failed and still manage to give the consumer an over priced console. If i was someone new to the scene and was looking to spend on a new console by doing some research and see that a new console is barely up there with consoles that came out 6 & 7 years ago i would definitely not buy that.

How is the wii u innovative when all it did was copy sony's remote play? also, how is the back touchpad not used in games when 4 out of 5 vita games I have use them? and they are all AAA titles

As in most gaming debates the trail goes on forever with that. "Remote play just copied the DS by using two screens!"

As far as I've seen remote play is a feature that is not used too often, especially for games. In fact only certain titles do that.

Its unfair to compare a handheld mobile games console such as PS Vita with a home bound games console such as Wii U. I have an old Nintendo Wii, 3DS, PS3 and PS Vita so I am not biased towards Nintendo or Sony. To me the Wii U is a bit of a missed opportunity by Nintendo they could have designed the Wii U controller to be a totally portable device that could also be used with Wii Console as controller. Then you could have transferred your game to the portable controller and took it away to play on bus, train on holiday etc like a PS Vita! Likewise Sony have not so far at least made full use of PS Vita. For example the Vita with its dual sticks and controls should be perfect for using like a Wii U controller for controlling and viewing PS3 games. But for some strange, stupid and unknown reason only known to Sony you cannot do this to a great extent. When will they wake up and smell the coffee! The PS Vita unlike the Wii U controller is a dedicated handheld console so you can at least take it away from home and play it, access internet and PS3 console remotely. The PS Vita game lineup is very disappointing as is Nintendo Wii U at moment. However, PS Vita has not been out long on markey compared to 3DS and it is only now that 3DS games library has started to improve. Also, there is a bit of a renewed interest in PS Vita by Sony who seem to be promoting it more than ever, possibly due to Wii U or maybe trying to shift lots of unsold units.

The only way I would compare Nintendo to Sony would be the quality of the games being played. Lets face it, Nintendo creates family friendly systems and usually does not allow hardcore blood, guts, and violence in their games. I would rather play a system with cool games that you can get sucked into. The Vita's games are not that promising at the moment but I would rather play anything the vita has over WII U. I will stash away the WII U for family night. If I remember correctly the Vita has a quad core in it. Nintendo has never surprised me when it comes to graphics especially when they came out with the N64 in 3D and named it 3DS.

I can say simply just you are idiot. This comparasion is really stupid first because vita is handheld and wii u is home console. And second you didn't even compare some most important things for gaming, you compared clock speed...idiot...example if you have on android armv7 Cortex A8 600mhz and you have on other android armv6 arm11 1GHZ, still first armv7 CPU is a lot better because of some things ''under the hood''...anyway still this article is helpful but it told me things I already knew...i wanted some really deep comparasion...

i don't think your an idiot you tried that's all that counts.....but i mean the i really hate the wii a lot the you don't need to know the GPU or CPU to know that the graphics problly are not that good witch most of nintendo graphics suck a lot and really i always thought nintendo is more family oriented than for true gamers the wii sucked i dont care what anyone says the kinetic is way better and still better than the wii's add-on controller and the vitas call of duty i think is bad a** especially on a hand held ive played all of them i would never base my discussion what people rate the games and the vita has remote play for the ps3 witch wow is the wii U just with sony lol but sonys had it sence the psp the best thing is that you can have console like games on the go
