A Look Inside Vita Browser 2.0

Browsing the web on Sony portables have never exactly been a totally pleasurable experience. I can't even begin to talk about how terrible things worked on the PSP, and even as the Vita launched we certainly weren't looking at anything special. Thanks to the latest major update however, we're talking about a web experience that lies far beyond anything that we see even on the PS3. According to reports, HTML5 support has increased by about 400%. That places it at a rating of 243 and two bonus points from some of the latest compatibility checkers. If you're one to keep score, that's just fifteen points and two bonus points behind the Wii U. I know, crazy right?

In addition to this, the new browser has also increased the allocated GPU and RAM speeds to get the task accomplished. While that may have some slight impact on your battery life down the line, it leads to drastically improved scrolling and almost absolutely no noticeable lag when loading pages. As if that wasn't enough, holding down one of the shoulder buttons and tapping the screen also helps to direct the cursor to all available links. Once it's pointed to the right one, all you need to do is left your finger from the display and it will be clicked. This takes a bit of getting used to but it certainly works quite well. Lastly, for all you Twitter junkies there is even a way to tweet sites directly from within the browser. That being said, while there isn't much competition, this is probably the best way to check your sites on a portable gaming console. While only 50% overall HTMl5 support is kind of a slouch, it's still not bad for a good start to adapting with the changes in our modern internet.
