Wing 323 - Kinect and Unity3D First Person Shooter

Submitted by Jared; August 19, 2011

What an amazing contribution to the indy Kinect games out there! I doubt Microsoft even has the guts to develop a first person shooter for their wonder toy. The daunting task of undertaking such an endeavour was no problem though for Alex Poolton. Wing 323 was created for Alex's masters project and I think it's safe to say you'll get a pretty good response from your efforts. The game is controlled via a series of gestures along with an XBOX 360 controller in order to produce smoother and more controllable movements. Your other hand controls the shooting, looking around, and actions such as opening doors and picking up items. The demo shows one level of play through as a guard finds his partner dead and begins to follow the trail of blood. It turns out that the prisoners have escaped Ward 323 and you gotta set things straight. Developed with Unity and C# with Kinect interaction using OpenNI and NITE, this homebrew styled FPS for the Kinect is sure to turn quite a few heads. Great work Alex and congratulations on the success of the project!

Hiya, just wanted to thank you for the posts on your blog.
My significant other and I understand this is not the most recent writing, however this seemed the right spot to write.
