Tetris 3D Played in Augmented Reality Using Kinect and WiiMote

Submitted by Jared; April 19, 2011

What do you get when you take a classic game like Tetris and bring it into the 21st century? Why a 3D display with augmented reality Kinect controlled head tracking in tandem with a WiiMote of course. Don't believe me? Check out what keysosaurus has whipped up using those very tools along with a little C#, XNA and OpenNI know-how. The game is displayed by overlapping the Tetris borders in a 3D environment around a players Kinect tracked head. You're able to move the perspective of the playing field around in the 3D environment if you choose to do so. The Tertis puzzle pieces are then controlled left to right by your own natural interface while your hands rotational position, along with the help of a WiiMote, allow you to rotate them and place them in the appropriate spot. For more check out the video.
