Anyone eagerly awaiting for a jailbreak for the iPod Touch 3G (Third Generation) will be absolutely pleased to know that GeoHot has successfully jailbroken the iTouch 3G and will have an application coming out soon that will do just that - blackra1n - However, I am not completely sure if this is strictly for the iPod Touch or if it'll work for all devices. Guess we'll find out when it's released!
10 seconds. and may work for every version of software *ever*, based on the prettiness of the exploit
The release for his jailbreak tool should be released within the next day or so. Stay tuned!

Apple, a few days ago, announced the 3rd generation iPod Touch with not much improvement over the 2nd gen iPod Touch. Sadly, Apple didn't add a camera. However, Apple did drop the price on the iPod Touch and boosted up the storage, which is always a plus.
New iPod Touch lineup looks like this:
- $199USD for the 8GB model
- $299USD for 32GB model
- $399USD for a whopping 64GB
The 32GB and 64GB are 50% faster than previous generation models and will run OpenGL ES 2.0. Also, existing iPod Touch owners who already have the latest 3.0 firmware will also be able to download the new iPhone OS 3.1 firmware, which is already available, at no charge, while those running older firmware versions can upgrade for $4.95, which is an absolute bargain.
In addition, iFixIt got their hands on a 32Gb iPod Touch model and tore it down and revealed that the iPod Touch contains a Broadcom BCM4329 chipset. Broadcom BCM4329 is a Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip, which supports the 802.11n Wi-Fi standard in addition to 802.11a/b/g standards. The iPhone 3GS and the second-generation iPod touch utilize a different BCM4325 chip, which supports only the 802.11a/b/g standards. While Apple has apparently not activated 802.11n capability in the iPod touch and it is unknown whether it will choose to do so in the future, the new iPod touch hardware does appear to be capable of supporting the standard.
iFixIt has also revealed that the iPod Touch has a small empty space at the top of the device (Approx. 6mm x 6mm x 3mm) where an iPod nano-style camera could fit. The iPod Touch does not appear to be thick enough to adequately house an auto focus camera as found in the iPhone 3GS.

iPhone Dev Team have released a redsn0w release which they will be provided no support for. — For those who are experienced with Terminal on Mac can use this with ease but for those who aren't, well, you may have some trouble. Redsn0w lite is command-line only; No GUI (if you didn't figure it out by now) and it's a tethered process.
THIS IS A ***** TETHERED ***** JAILBREAK
IF YOU DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THAT MEANS, DON'T USE THIS!
There are many ways to do this. Here's one way that will probably
work for you. If it doesn't, please don't come to use for support.
We're working on an untethered version.
This is for Mac only. But you should be able to find (or work out
on your own) how to do it on Windows or Linux too.
Instructions:
Redsn0w Readme at iPhone-hacks.com
Download via iPhone Downloads section
Redsnow Lite Mac OS X Download
Remember, Use at your own risk!
Thanks for the tip, Corey!
