Semaphore has released an updated TinyUmbrella 5.00.05 to support backing up iOS 4.3.4 and 4.2.9 (Verizon) SHSH Blobs. While upgrading to iOS 4.3.4 at this time is still being widely cautioned, backing up your SHSH blobs is highly recommended in case you ever need to downgrade.

Been awhile since Apple has issued an update for iTunes. Not sure if that's a good thing or bad, but Apple has released an updated version of all our beloved app -- iTunes.
This version fixes a number of issues and bugs with iTunes version 9.0.2 including:
- iTunes no longer ignores your "Remember password for purchases" setting.
- Addresses problems with syncing some Smart Playlists and Podcasts with iPod.
- Resolves a problem recognizing when iPod is connected.
- Addresses issues that affect stability and performance.
You can get the update from Software Update on either Windows or Mac OS X or if you like, you can download the update from Apple.com (source link)

Our very own NurkJon has released a really handy application for Windows named iUSB Tunnel. iUSB Tunnel makes it truly simple to SSH to your iPhone, tether to your iPhone, and to do many other things all with a simple user-friendly GUI.
iUSB Tunnel is a simple gui that makes it easy to use SSH, VNC and Tethering with your iPhone over usb on a Windows machine. It's a free liteweight program and portable so you can run it from a usb stick if you want. It comes loaded with WinSCP, Putty, Firefox Portable, iTunnel, TightVNC and UltraVNC so you don't have to download those programs.
I haven't had a chance to test this out myself, but I thank NurkJon for releasing this on our own forums and for all of his hard work!

RipDev has announced an upcoming application named InstallerApp — InstallerApp will allow users to install jailbreak unofficial third-party application via a desktop application. It will look similar to Installer.app on the iPhone but it will be on your desktop. You will be able to view and download applications from Installer and Cydia (yay!) repositories and then sync them to your iPhone via USB. Pretty awesome for those who don't have Wi-Fi or cell network access.
Once you download the app, it will be kept on your hard drive (unless, of course you delete it) and just like iTunes, InstallerApp will notify you when there are updates for application you've downloaded. InstallerApp is still in beta testing and version 1.0 will be released very soon!
Pretty awesome idea!

Tired of searching around the internet for where to download ipsw files? Kalieb has created us a nice little Windows application to make downloading iPhone firmware ipsw files a little easier. It is a simple program that lists all the iPhone firmware with a download and info button. The manager uses direct links to Apple's servers for all versions of the iPhone software to date. Kalieb promises the software will also update itself with new links in the future.

WinPwn has released a patch release on their 2.0 branch with WinPwn 2.0.0.3 featuring the following bug fixes:
- Cydia/XP/Writing root FS bug.
- Failed to remove ipsw directory after a ipswBuild failure.
- iPwner now only accepts custom ipsws.
- Remove 345 ipsw support. WinPwn only supports 347 2.0 ipsw's.
- Various other fixes.
Features we can expect in the next release:
- Parition resizer
- Auto updater
- DFU Helper function/Wizard mode

There have been many reports of errors abound for the iPhone Dev Team's PwnageTool 2.0. Jailbreaking and Unlocking EDGE iPhones running 2.0 seems to be working quite well for most, but jailbreaking the iPhone 3G seems to be the largest cause of complaints.
Some report the application not even launching properly but most are having problems with either iTunes installing the new firmware or PwnageTool's creation of the firmware file. The team has been making updates to their blog. We will make sure to keep you up to date with what is going on. Hopefully these problems will get sorted out quickly.

Ambrosia Software has released an updated version of iToner! If you don't know what iToner does, well, it allows you to easily sync custom MP3, AIFF, AAC, or WAVE ringtones by simple drag and drop – without having to hack or open your iPhone!
This update is free for all iToner registered users, and it costs $15 USD otherwise.
iToner 1.0.7 changes:
- Support for iPhone OS 1.1.4
- Fixes with iTunes compatibility. iToner should no longer prevent iTunes from removing iTMS ringtones
- Fixed crash when syncing with iPod touch from iTunes
- Various fixes and enhancements
System Requirements:
- Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later
- iPhone (obviously)
