New Website Allows You To Hide iOS Native Apps Without A Jailbreak

Submitted by Christopher Groux; October 31, 2012

Developed by RAG3HACK and marty1500, getting rid of all those unwanted apps on even something as new as an iPhone 5 has never been so noob friendly. Sure Apple means well by letting us check stocks and all, but unless you're on Wallstreet, who's going to be using that app anyway? You might as well take that space and use it for something more valuable on your homescreen. Luckily (as of right now) this fancy little website allows you to pull that off.

  • First, you're going to want open this link in mobile Safari
  • Tap the hide button on whatever app you want to conceal
  • A web app will install in the place of your selected app. The installation will fail, but this is totally normal.
  • Tap "done"
  • Press and hold on any app to enter wiggle mode
  • An x will now appear allowing you to uninstall your app just like any other

A hack this easy does of course come with its own limitations. For one, you aren't actually deleting the app, you're just removing it from view. It will emerge again on next boot. This could be fine though if you don't restart often and want to be a neat freak on the latest build of iOS.

Have any of you guys tested this out yet? I don't know if I like the idea of having to lose the hide on a reboot, but it sounds pretty nifty. Especially if you've got an iPhone 5.
