It seems as every time you turn away, Apple is cooking something up new to replace the device you just bought. New rumors coming to light show that there's an iPhone setup undergoing internal testing as well as a new iPod Touch being provisioned for.
The iPhone in question is said to feature a variant of the iPad's A5X chip, which packs 1 GB of RAM. The prototype setup allows the phone to perform faster. Apple seems to have evaluated damage control beforehand and have packaged up the new hardware in the body of the iPhone 4. At this time, it's too early to tell whether future iOS devices will sport the A5X chip, if it lives past testing.
On the iPod front, a new "iPod 5,1" model number has been discovered among the files in an internal iOS 5.1 build. Usually when this happens, Apple is working on pushing out a new iPod or whatever the case may be. 9to5Mac points out that Apple may be pushing the A5X chip in this iPod as well. Only time will tell.
All of this rumor talk makes me want to get an iPhone.
