I'm sure you've heard of Apple's miserable job with their own Maps application, that was introduced with iOS 6. Many have shunned Apple for dumping Google's application due to a contract dispute but it looks as if they will be going back to using them, somewhat. Tim Cook has formally apologized for the quality of Maps application and have listed alternative solutions while the experience is improved. Among the list includes Bing, MapQuest, Waze, Nokia and of course, Google. Tim Cook also goes the length of recommending web apps that are accessible through a shortcut on the home screen.
With Apple's own Maps application off to a bad start, will they be able to recover in time or will they lose a good percentage of their userbase? Also with this bad start, will Apple be less likely to develop inhouse applications in the future? The thing is that, the world may never know.
