When Apple first announced its custom A6 chip, most benchmarking apps clocked it at a dual core 1.02 GHz speed, but what if we told you that wasn't accurate? Of course Apple is usually somewhat mum when it comes to releasing exact tech specs of their own hardware, so we had to rely on the popular benchmarking app known as Geekbench to get all of our information. However, with the recent release of iOS 6, that same app has been updated to include a much more refined detection algorithm for processor speeds. Lo and behold, this tweak revealed that our original estimates of the A6's speed were indeed a pretty sizable miscalculation.
Instead of being stuck at a cooler 1.02 GHz, the actual running speed for the newly-designed chip has officially been found to be 1.3GHz instead. That means all of your favorite apps are going to be loading faster than we thought, and more importantly the system is going to be able to handle quite a bit more resource-heavy games and utilities that you and I both know will be released down the line. Coming off of the disaster that is Scuffgate and Apple Maps, this should make owners of the latest iPhone quite pleased with their purchase.
