StatusColor Tweak Gives Your iOS 5 Status Bar a Tint

If you're a member  of the iDevice hacking community, there could be any number of reasons why you may not  be ready and willing to make the jump to iOS 6. For one, while a jailbreak is available for A4-based devices, the only real option is tethered which may not really be that attractive to some of the more hardcore jailbreaking crowd. Not to mention with all of the problems that seem to be plaguing the launch of this new software, even if you wanted to lose your jailbreak, there isn't really a whole lot of incentive to go for the free upgrade. Who wants wifi speeds that run at a snails pace, or a mapping experience that has left even the most loyal of Apple fans crying in a corner? Not me.

That's why Cydia tweaks that give us the advantages of the software update without the added risk are always welcome. While their are a host of new visual changes that were packaged in with the fresh release, one of the more noticeable ones is that cool  looking tinted status bar. Gone are the days of that dated solid silver look, only to be replaced with something just a little bit more see-through. Those who have seen what this change looks like will attest that it definitely does look nice, which is why Alan Yip brings us StatusColor. Obviously it's not going to revolutionize the way you use your device, but why not add a fresh coat of paint every now and again? After all, that's a huge part of what jailbreaking is about.
