BrightVol Brings Additional Functions to Device Volume Buttons

It's no secret that Apple takes great care in the hardware design of its products. In fact for some, this lean towards intuitiveness is in fact the only reason they choose to lean on the Cupertino side of the fence. As has been the case, it seems the company is attempting to use as few buttons as possible to promote ease of use, and for the most part they have done a stellar job at accomplishing that goal. Just think about how many things the simple home button can do and you'll see what I mean.

 

 

Then there's those small buttons on the side of your device meant to control volume. They're certainly a nice touch if you don't want to  go through the process of unlocking to adjust the sound, but the fact is unlike many of the other buttons they only have that single function. Thanks to a new Cydia tweak called BrightVol, those little knobs can now also be used to adjust screen brightness through a simple Activator function. All you need to do is hold down both volume buttons together and the brightness can then be adjusted appropriately using the buttons. Volume function will be restored by pushing both buttons down again or by waiting thirty seconds.

 

What's better than a Cydia hack that is useful is one that remains useful without having to sacrifice any ability. This free tweak from the BigBoss repo is a rare way to accomplish just that!
