In 2012, Apple took possession of an astounding 1,136 patents to secure that it would be the first to create some of the latest and greatest technology that we will see in the coming years. It seems that the Cupertino kids have already gotten the ball rolling in 2013 with this very interesting patent for a glass-on-metal trackpad. My source indicates that this design is something that the late Steve Jobs had been eying prior to his death, but the visionary and design vice-president Jony Ive never got to complete the planning.
According to the document, it is more or less the securing of a glass trackpad to be placed on an aluminum unibody (like the ones found in a Macbook.) Looking at the filing itself, it seems that getting the right papers in place has actually taken Apple more than four years to complete, but after some word changing and hard work it seems that they have finally gotten it done. The real question is, would you be interested in a glass trackpad, or does it just scream "dangerous" for you like it does for me?
