System Performance

All these extra user interface tweaks are well and good, but how will all of it impact how your device runs? Even on Apple's own website they write that jailbreaking can cause issues with "security, instability, and shorter battery life," but are they just blowing smoke? In terms of security I would say they are. In most cases security threats have been most effectively spread (and patched on official iOS builds rather than hacked ones. Sure in theory your system is more open so it may install more bad stuff, but the community has never really seen anything like that and hopefully never will.

iPhone loading

It's the other two that might ring the most true however. In my time with the Evasi0n jailbreak, my 4G iPod Touch has crashed at least once everyday which can be frustrating if you want to get things done. In a lot of ways making your system stable is going to require playing around and seeing what tweaks work best with the RAM you have. Older devices aren't going to handle as many mods because they have less resources so keep that in mind. However, even if you're running an iPhone 5 I would still prepare for more crashes and slightly shortened battery life regardless. The features can be pretty cool, but they may not all work perfectly fine all the time.

With this hit in performance though, there is one more added benefit. Find out what it is on the next page!

I have an older device, but I sill find my iPod crashes more with Evasi0n than my 2G did with RedSn0w. Everybody else enjoying it?

I jailbroke my iPhone 4 last week. I've had no problems whatsoever. Only downfall is that installous is done.

Lol there are decent alternatives if that's what you want. As I writer here I'm not sure I can point you there specifically, but Google can certainly give you options. ;-)
