Unlock Your iPhone 3GS or 4 on iOS 6 With UltraSn0w Fixer

It seems as if the security behind iOS 6 is slowly unraveling as time passes. With RedSn0w now offering a much more complete tethered jailbreak for the latest firmware, UltraSn0w has also come along to provide us with the secret for unlocking iPhone 4s and 3GSs to let some of those nasty carrier stipulations fall by the wayside. If you're thinking about jumping ship from your carrier this will certainly be a welcome surprise.  After all, as we know, unlocking allows users to put another carrier's SIM card into their phone as they please. Take that restricting contracts!

 

As usual, when it comes to unlocking there are of course certain basebands that such hacks will work on. In terms of this latest release, you'll be in luck if you have kept that version number down to the following options:

 

  • 01.59.00
  • 04.26.08
  • 05.11.07
  • 05.13.01
  • 05.12.01
  • 06.15.00

 

With plenty of options ranging from old to recent, there should be plenty in that list to make iPhone fans smile. All you need to do is head on over to the iparelhos repo in Cydia, look for UltraSn0w Fixer 6.0,  and then install the latest build of UltraSn0w on top of that patch. Let freedom ring for a bunch of you iOS 6 users!

i have a 3gs thats not been activated. its currently locked to vodafone uk. i want to put a virgin sim in it. how can i unlock it if i dont know the baseband or if i cant access any of the phones settings? :sad:

ive since found the baseband by borrowing an old vodafone sim and it is 05.16.07 and it has ios 6.0.1.
is there a walk through for installing cydia or at the least unlocking this device. i have tried several times now and i am now at a complete loss.
