f.lux: Reduce Eye Strain

Submitted by Dan; October 03, 2011

Really neat and useful jailbreak app -- f.lux -- it adapts your iDevice's screen brightness to the time of day. No more going temporarily blind when you turn on your iPhone in the middle of the night in a dark room. In my opinion the ambient sensor doesn't work all that well the adjust the screen brightness to the setting you're in. During the day, in the sun, the sensor works fairly well but really falls short in a room with little ambient light. F.lux manages to make the iPhone screen brightness work great throughout the day and night.
Installation is straightforward, you install it just like you install all of your other jailbreak apps -- search for f.lux on Cydia and tap "Install". No need to add another source link. F.lux's menu will be in your Settings.app F.lux runs in the background and asks for your device's location -- which stays on your device -- at specific intervals, therefore, it does consume CPU and battery. However, the developers are working on reducing battery consumption Note: Known bug - on older devices with non-Retina displays, the transition from daylight to f.lux-light causes the screen to temporarily flicker. To prevent this bug, turn off the long-transition mode in f.lux preferences. Did I mention f.lux is free? So, go install it and enjoy reduced eye strain. - source: stereopsis
