What Will iOS 6 Be Bringing You This Fall?

Submitted by Kevmau5; June 12, 2012

Yesterday was the last day of Apple's WWDC convention. We've seen the release of New Apps, Passbook, which holds all your giftcard information as well as credit cards and more. We also have seen a range of new Macs. Lets take a look at the second most sought after announcement: IOS 6...

Unfortunatley, what everyone was most looking forward to, iPhone 5, was NOT unveiled at this years event. What we did get however was Tim Cook unveiling the upcoming IOS 6 and marking the end of WWDC 2012. When it's finally released to the public in the fall, heres what you can expect to see:

Siri: The revolutionary way of interacting with your phone is getting better search results when looking for Movies and sports related searches. Applications can also be launched now from Siri. It's going to be available in more countries and available on more devices! That's right, it'll be Available on the iPad (probably the iPad 2 and 'New iPad').

Maps: The maps application has never been the greatest in IOS compared with other operating systems. But this upgrade is a big step. It has been, in Apple's words, built from the ground up. It now features Siri integration as well as '3D Flyover view' and 'Traffic Layers'. That being collected information on the traffic status for your route of choice. Another MAJOR addition is the audible turn-by-turn navigation.

Facebook: For a little while now, Twitter, has been integrated into IOS. Well now it's Facebooks turn. One of the most usefull features to be implemented is the ability to upload photos directly from the Photo's application. You can now post status' from within the notification centre. Items can be 'Liked' in iTunes, iBooks and appstore.

Phone: The phone application now gives you an option to turn on 'Do Not Disturb' mode for when you.....do not want disturbed. Missed calls can also quickly be replied to with pre-set text messages. One of the biggest features that will be abailable for the phone, which we have covered before, is the ability to make facetime calls over *cellular.

Other less notable app upgrades for IOS 6 is

Mail - having the ability to attach photos and videos from within the mail app.

Safari: The ability to sync your open tabs in safari on your Mac with your iDevice. Or save entire Webpages so they can be read offline.

More features throughout the phone regarding sounds and layouts are getting upgrades and addons but are not getting a mention here.

The compatibility for IOS 6 and iDevices goes as follows :

iPhone 3G[S]
iPhone 4
iPhone 4s
iPod Touch 4G
iPad 2
iPad 3 (New iPad)

The original iPad will NOT see this upgrade but it will help the iPhone 3G[S] live on!
