iOS 6 Jailbreak Rumors Likely a Hoax

In general, jailbreaking Apple firmware has been somewhat simple in the past. Thanks to the ever-present bootrom exploit found in A4 based products, there were lots of us that easily took advantage of the fact that we had stumbled on a massive security hole left by the Cupertino company. As of right now, these older products are the only ones that can jailbreak iOS 6 at all in a tethered fashion, but beefed up security in the software itself has prevented anything more even with a more open hardware environment.

All of that being said, almost the entire Apple scene is quite anxiously awaiting the next big hack. While iPhone Dev and Chronic have been hard at work trying to give the fans what they want, progress has been somewhat stagnant. That's where DreamJB comes in. A completely new team has emerged today saying that they in fact not only have an untethered iOS 6 jailbreak, but they also have a solution that works on devices as new as the iPhone 5 and its shiny A6 processor. If you've been involved in any hacking community, you probably already know how the story goes. New teams pop up all the time in periods of need and they promise the world. More often than not however, these are simply scams to get attention.

As iH8sn0w has very rightfully said "Never trust anyone who has never released anything credible in the past." While video evidence is supposed to be coming as soon as tomorrow, many are citing us to use caution in preparation for a possible new phone virus. What do you guys think, real or scam?
