The iPad Mini in Review

Submitted by Christopher Groux; October 24, 2012

We've known for quite some time now that Apple has been looking to get into the smaller tablet market, and as of yesterday they finally did with the release of their brand new product called the iPad Mini. While some members of the community have already stepped forward to call the device a failure, you can be assured that these things are still going to be flying off the shelves as soon as they hit retail. There are tons of news stories already out about this, so I'm going to break it down by telling you everything I think you should know about the iPad's little brother.

Display: As projected, the iPad Mini's screen will scale to 7.9 inches with a resolution of 1024x768. Essentially this is the same setup that we saw with the iPad 2, and while some fans will be griping about the lack of retina, that's what you're going to get in this smaller package.

Camera: This may be the most tantalizing part of the device. It's a 5MP iSight camera that shoots full 1080p video. That's the same camera in the current iPad model! Not too shabby.

Processor: Another iPad 2 part found in this is Apple's A5. It may not be as speedy as the upcoming A6x, but it should be enough to get all of your major tasks done while guaranteeing 10 hours of battery life!

Price: This is the big one. Regardless if you buy in black or white the tablet is going to come in three configurations based on capacity with two more based on 4G. The capacity variants are set at 16GB ($329) / 32GB ($429) / 64GB ($529) while those that want to add 3G can tack on $130 to any of those prices. Essentially that means at least you'll be paying $329, and at most $660.

When: The iPad Mini arrives at retail on November 2nd, but preorders begin on Friday.

What's your take on all this? Anyone ready to line up?

This is simply another great product made by apple. What most people like about apple products like myself is the quality of their products and even tough they may not pack the better hardware in the market in terms of the CPU & Ram they still run great with the iOS and have great battery times. $329 is a great price that will sell millions of these. Its such an affordable price that would make tons of customers think about buying the iPod touch 5 which is $299. Personally i like the current iPad because its gorgeous screen but didn't like the weight and how it felt on my hand. So now with the mini hopefully those problems have been solved(at least for me). Now they just made products of all sizes for all types of customers.
