With Apple mostly focused on its mobile division at the moment, it's pretty apparent that the desktops (namely the iMac and the iMac Mini) have very quietly been shoved to the side. Fans of the company have been clamouring to get their hands on an iMac with a retina display, and while that may not be coming at this exact time, there is a rumor swirling around that just might be enough to get your excited. As it stands right now, Apple is only using 4GB memory modules for its desktops, which means you can only get a maximum of 16GB on an iMac and 8GB on a Mini. However that all might change in the coming days.

According to sources over at 9 to 5 Mac, the iPad Mini isn't the only big thing that we'll be hearing about at the big event next week. On top of the news of that smaller tablet, it has been suggested that Apple will be doubling the standard RAM capacity of its desktops. This means you'll be able to get an 16GB Mac Mini and a (wait for it) 32GB iMac. Obviously we don't really have any news on how this will impact the pricing of the units, but we all know that the way this company usually does things means you'll be shelling out a pretty penny. Just imagine what a 32GB iMac would be like. Forty Photoshop windows open at once with no problem?
