The release of the iPad 4 was quite the shock to everybody. Despite the countless leaks we had of the iPad Mini, press was generally kept quiet to make this November launch a surprise. After all, Apple would never break their typical release cycle right? Wrong. The Cupertino company took a much more business-centric strategy in an attempt to make us all go nuts over the holidays.
As part of the presentation on the new device, it was said that the iPad 4's A6X chip "smokes the competition" by delivering speeds nearly twice as fast as the previous model. Sure a lot of companies like to inflate their stats, but according to GeekBench, what was said happens to be true. When it comes to this newly designed wonder, the quad-core beast scored a 1757 in comparison to the last model's 791.
All of that might just be numbers to you though, so what about the clock? While these words are nowhere near official, the team reports that the A6X operates at about 1.4 GHz, which is about a 100 MHz jump over what consumers now see in the iPhone 5. However it should be said that if anything these numbers could actually be even lower than the true operations specs (as was seen with early iPhone 5 bench tests) so suffice to say this new iPad is going to be darn fast! Will you be attempting to pick one up, or would you rather wait for another redesign?
