iOS 6.1 Beta 3 Seeded To Devs, It's Jailbreakable

It's not uncommon for Apple to frequently release beta versions of iOS to developers prior to any big official update. Such is the case with iOS 6.1 beta 3 that has just recently landed on the development servers as an over the air or standalone package. In terms of features, you shouldn't be expecting too much more than what has been seen in previous versions, however if you are in the process of making an app that might be well integrated with Apple Maps than the extra APIs found inside might be worthwhile for you to tinker around with.

However maybe more interesting than the small feature set of this beta is the fact that it is indeed fully jailbreakable on pre-A5 based devices. This means that should you have an iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, or 4th Generation iPod Touch then you should have no problem using this tethered option should you choose to. As has been done in the past, this uses the bootrom exploit, so patching it wasn't exactly difficult. To make things work, just download the latest version of RedSn0w and point to the newer firmware. Since the program hasn't been completely tested yet, it is possible that this could be buggy, so if you're the type that likes to wait for more official ways of doing things then I suggest you do that. Just in case, it should be noted that tethered does indeed mean you will not be able to reboot without a computer either so keep that in mind if you take this course of action.
