T-Mobile is the only carrier of the "Big 4" in the United States who hasn't carried the iPhone since the AT&T exclusivity contract was up. That might be changing soon, according to what one analyst says. Scott Craig says that the carrier will announce the iPhone during their analyst day meetings to be held next week. This would have big gains for both T-Mobile and Apple, if it was to go through. Apple will gain access to 98% of the nation's post-paid wireless subscribers on top of the new customers that will come along with it.
This would be a good deal for everyone involved, including the end customers and the tech-savvy. With iPhones locked to T-Mobile, there wouldn't be a need to go through the process of jailbreaking and then unlocking your phone or buying the necessary hardware to accomplish the same task. Not only that, the price at which the iPhone will be sold at (subsidized) will be more affordable than outright buying for another carrier or unlocked outright. With just a couple more days to go before we hear anything, it'll be interesting to see if Craig's predictions were true.
