It's been quite a landmark year for the Sony brand. With the release of a brand new handheld and the seventh birthday of the PS3 just around the bend, it's clear that the company is still in a period that suggests strong growth. Many analysts have suggested that we will see a PlayStation 4 sometime in the next 364 days, but we never thought it could be as soon as February. Regardless, if you were a member of the press, you may have received a note in your mailbox yesterday that promised access to "a first look at all the amazing new releases coming from Sony Computer Entertainment America Entertainment in 2013.”
As the kit shows, this supposed Destination PlayStation event will be happening on February 25th-28th in Scottsdale, Arizona for all of those invited. Obviously usually when companies invite the media to their house you've got to figure that something massive is about to happen. To date we haven't heard much about the supposed PS4 other than that dev kits have been sent out, so maybe this will be our first chance. Many have speculated that the console might go an entirely digital route leaving all games up for download, but that will all be conjecture until we get the facts. We have all loved our PS3, but with any luck maybe a new console will be on the way. Given that those lv0 keys are out and about I'm sure they can't wait to get that new console to market as fast as possible.

As for the press event, I think they WILL showcase or at least talk a little about the PS4...since it is what everyone will be there to see!

I agree that download only is a non-starter for the Internet speed/cap reason (even with a fast pipe, do you want to wait hours for a 20-50 GB game?). Also, at least in the the US, there is a dependency on retailers to sell consoles and they would not tolerate being cut off by a download-only console, since there's money to be made on the software.
